Dingnan Hakka Crying Wedding Customs (the third batch of provincial level) Crying wedding (crying wedding is actually the crying song of Hakka girls when they get married) is a unique folk custom cultural expression form in the local marriage customs that combines Hakka dialect and melody (crying tune). This form has been passed down for more than 800 years. It is an important cultural carrier for Hakka girls to deeply express their gratitude to their parents for raising them, the deep affection between brothers and sisters, and the affection between relatives and neighbors when they get married. It has played an important role in promoting the development of a harmonious society in the historical process of local society. Therefore, this excellent traditional custom is still continued. Its dialect and melody have historical reference value for studying the art of Central Plains culture (Mandarin) in the Tang and Song dynasties in my country. According to the traditional custom of crying wedding, Hakka girls have a seven-day "crying wedding period" before getting married. On the wedding day, the Hakka girls will wear red clothes and embroidered shoes. They will be led by their uncles or elders with many children and blessings in the clan to go out of the boudoir and enter the hall to bid farewell to their ancestors and parents, and then hug and cry with their parents. This is a special cry, which is to cry to relatives and friends about the feeling of parting. At this time, the bride cries and sings the "Wedding Crying Song". The lyrics are about crying for her parents, thanking them for their upbringing; crying for her brothers and sisters to say goodbye to their deep love; and crying because she is afraid that she will not be able to adapt to the new environment soon. At this time, the parents, relatives and friends will also shed tears, and tell the bride to abandon her natal family's pampering, respect her parents-in-law, support her husband and children, and work hard in the fields. According to custom, before the bride gets on the sedan chair, her family and relatives should give her money for the sedan chair, which is called "waist tying". Therefore, the longer and more touching the bride cries, the more money she will get. As the saying goes, "If the bride doesn't cry, her natal family will not be blessed. The more the bride cries, the more good luck and fortune she will have." This is the truth.
