Jianhu dialect is a folk art project in the fourth batch of representative projects of Yancheng's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Jianhu is located in the Jianghuai dialect area, and Jianhu dialect belongs to the "Northern Mandarin" language family. Jianhu dialect has pure pronunciation, distinct four tones, clear sharp and round characters, no rolled tongue sounds, and is relatively stable. It also has a rich and vivid vocabulary, a wide range of tolerance, and varied and soft intonations, stretching and fluent. Especially the language within a certain range centered on the county seat, which is neither hard like "dry tune" nor soft like "water tune", with a peaceful pronunciation and moderate strength. Jianhu dialect is also the direct stage dialect of Huai Opera. In 2018, it was included in the fourth batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage protection list.
