🎧  Listen to Introduction

Zhongping Town is located at the foot of Dayao Mountain in the east of Xiangzhou County. It is a place where Zhuang, Han, Yao and other ethnic groups live together. In the folk customs and culture of the ethnic groups, there are Zhuang cultural customs and ancient customs of Han culture. With the progress and development of society, coupled with the integration, integration and sublimation of foreign customs and cultures, in addition to modern festivals and traditional festivals, a regional culture with local characteristics of Zhongping has been formed. Many villages have their own traditions and independent "village celebration days". The "Village Celebration Day" originally meant killing chickens and ducks, burning incense and paper to offer sacrifices to the God of Rain and the God of Grain or praying for smooth sailing, begging for rain or hoping that the God of Grain would bless the early rice harvest and the family with good luck; later there was another saying that "before the "double harvest" of the year, when the early rice harvest and late rice planting are the busiest, inviting relatives and friends to the village as guests, one is to celebrate the early rice harvest of the year; the other is that during the "double harvest" season, relatives and friends will carry forward the spirit of mutual assistance, help each other, exchange labor to harvest early rice and plant late rice." Every "Village Celebration Day", relatives and friends from all directions gather together to greet each other, exchange information, watch plays and have dinner together, and keep in touch. Whenever there is a village celebration, each village will not lose etiquette and take turns to celebrate as usual. No matter the guests invited by each family or the VIPs invited by the village, they are honored to have more guests. In the fifth month of the lunar calendar in Zhongping Town, there is the "Dragon Dividing Day" in Guancun. The sixth lunar month in Zhongping Town is a month full of "human touch", with "June 1st" in Tingzhu Village of Duofu Village Committee, "June 2nd" in Jia Village, Xinqing Village, "June 6th" in He Village, Luosha Village, Jiangtou Village, and "June 21st" in Su Village. The "village celebration" customs of each village are like the dragon totem worship of the Chinese nation, representing a yearning or belief, praying for family safety, good weather, and disaster relief. Nowadays, many villages in Zhongping Town, such as Jia Village, Duofu, and He Village, have turned "village celebration day" into a cultural festival to celebrate.
