Yicheng Qinshu
Yicheng Qinshu is named "Qinshu" because the main accompaniment instrument during storytelling is the yangqin. Yicheng Qinshu is an ancient folk art of the Han nationality. It is said to have originated in the late Yuan Dynasty and was popular in the border area of Henan, Shaanxi and Shanxi with Yicheng, Shanxi as the center. The singing style is divided into two categories: "Cymbal tune" with small cymbals and "Drum tune" with octagonal drums. It was included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list in May 2010. Yicheng Qinshu is a folk storytelling art of the Han nationality that was born and raised in Yicheng, Shanxi, a fertile land with thousands of years of cultural heritage. It is commonly known as "local book". According to the "Yicheng County Chronicles" and "Hundred Years of Liyuan Notes", Yicheng Qinshu originated in the heyday of Yuan Dynasty zaxi opera and was popular in Henan, Shaanxi, Shanxi and other three provinces with Yicheng as the center. It has a long history and unique charm, and can be called a wonder of quyi art. In the early days, Yicheng Qinshu was a folk song. The singers carried a small qin, a wooden fish and an octagonal drum, played and sang by themselves, and walked through the villages and alleys. Every time they arrived at a place, they would set up a table in the streets or courtyards of the people. One person held a small cymbal or played the qin, and one person played the four-stringed fiddle. At the same time, one foot stepped on a wooden clapper tied with a rope, hitting the small wooden fish fixed on the table, using both hands and feet to beat and sing. When the singing was emotional, the lead singer held the octagonal drum, hitting the drum with his fingers while dancing the silk tassels on the drum body, which made it even more beautiful and wonderful. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the number of Qinshu troupes gradually increased to three to five people, and at the same time, instruments such as banhu and flute were added. The tunes also developed in new ways. In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, the "street stall" singing art of singing with one person covering the book and multiple people accompanying gradually formed. Since the 1970s, Yicheng Qinshu has carried out bold reforms on the basis of inheriting traditions. The literary and art workers in Yicheng County tried to change the singing of Yicheng Qinshu by roles to the singing of actors playing characters, and moved the rap from "street stalls" to stage performances. At the same time, in terms of music, the soundtracks of drum boards, horse gongs, small gongs and high-pitched banhu were added. After several years of refinement and reform, a unique new local opera was gradually formed, known as "Yicheng Qinju". In 1982, the Yicheng Qinju Troupe was officially established, marking the official transformation of Yicheng Qinshu from the form of folk art to the form of opera. In its continuous development, Yicheng Qinju has absorbed the essence of local Puju, Meihu and folk music, making the singing and music more colorful. In terms of the selection of repertoires, the traditional dramas "Shanshi Pavilion" and "Xianliang Biography" were carefully processed and rehearsed, making this new Qinju art shine on the stage. At the same time, the Qinju Troupe also choreographed modern dramas in an eclectic manner, making Qinju famous. Performance form Qinshu is to narrate stories, shape characters, express thoughts and feelings, and reflect social life through language and singing combined with music. Generally, the singing is mainly based on narration, supplemented by representation, and combined with action and expression. The accompaniment instruments of Yicheng Qinshu mainly include yangqin, sihu, sanxian, octagonal drum, wooden fish, etc. When singing, the number of actors is usually three or four. The performance forms include sitting singing, walking singing, split singing (singing in different roles), and colorful singing (performance in disguise). The singing structure belongs to the board-style variation, but there are also some tune components. There are two types of folk art: "cymbal tune" with small cymbals and "drum tune" with octagonal drums. The main board styles include slow board, 28 board, flying board and drum tune. Artistic characteristics First, influenced by the geographical and social environment, Yicheng County has close ties with some cities and counties in northern Henan, so the influence of Henan local opera is indispensable in the composition of music. Secondly, the local "folk songs" of Yicheng are also an important part of the tunes of Yicheng Qinshu. If it is a "book", it must be "speakable". The local dialect of Qinshu is also an important part. The "original flavor" of the dialect is also one of the factors that are deeply loved by the local people. In the performance of Yicheng Qinshu, one of the most exquisite skills of Qinshu is the drum playing in "Guerqiang". Whenever a paragraph or a long chapter expresses intense contradictions and expresses the inner sufferings of the characters, narration, memories and other plots, the rapper holds the octagonal drum, shakes his nimble fingers and plays and beats the drums, creating a warm atmosphere, and then sings in a different tone, naturally bringing the audience into the next plot.
