Liu's Residence is a national key cultural relic protection unit, located in Xiwenxing Village, Qinshui County. This is a well-preserved thousand-year-old village where the Liu clan of Hedong have lived for generations. At present, the ancient village still retains a complete range of ancient buildings with the characteristics of the feudal patriarchal system from the Ming and Qing dynasties. It typically reflects the historical and cultural authenticity of Liu's residence. More importantly, this place has also precipitated my country's excellent folk culture traditions. There are still 56 households living in the ancient village, more than 220 descendants of the Liu clan of the same lineage, with no other surnames. According to the existing inscriptions on bronze and stone tablets and the "Hedong Liu Clan Genealogy", the descendants of the Liu clan in this ancient village are all descendants of Liu Zongyuan, a political reformer, thinker, and writer in the Tang Dynasty. The descendants of Liu Zongyuan have lived in seclusion in Lishan, Qinshui since the end of the Tang Dynasty. They have lived in Xiwenxing Village for generations. They have followed the teachings and observed etiquette for generations, inherited the family style of the Hedong Liu family and the virtues of the Liu ancestors, and continued the unique life customs of the Hedong Liu family. They have erected a stone to record it forever in the Liu family ancestral hall in Xiwenxing, which has been passed down to descendants to this day, forming a unique folk traditional culture of the Liu family, which is a blood-related family, and is widely imitated by families in the surrounding villages and towns. The Liu family's life customs, including birth, coming of age, marriage, marriage of daughters, funerals, etc., have a complete set of procedures and rituals. There are strict requirements and norms for the participants' speech and behavior, clothing and attire, food offerings, and the time of gratitude. There are clear regulations for the etiquette and banquets of different customs. In 2006, the Liu family's life customs were announced as "Shanxi Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage."
