Yangcheng traditional dough figurines are widely distributed. According to different production methods, there are raw dough figurines, fried dough figurines, steamed dough figurines and baked dough figurines. Baked dough figurines are also called baked dough dolls, which can be said to be the best among Yangcheng traditional dough figurines. Baked dough dolls are mainly distributed in the Chengguan area of Yangcheng County, also known as "Chengguan baked dough dolls", which have strong regional characteristics. According to research, the production of baked dough dolls began at least in the early Ming Dynasty. Every July 15th, the mother's family would "send the fifteenth" to the daughter, and baked dough dolls were the gifts that must be brought for "sending the fifteenth". On the day of "sending the fifteenth", many relatives and neighbors would go to watch and comment on it. Therefore, for the mother's family, the production of baked dough dolls was extraordinary. This kind of folk competition effectively promoted the prosperity and development of baked dough doll craft food. Due to the changes of the times, some traditional festivals have been replaced by new things, and baked dough dolls that coexist with traditional festivals have gradually been ignored by people, and even gradually forgotten. In the early 1990s, the cultural department of Yangcheng County spent a lot of effort to help and support a group of veterans and newcomers, including Bai Qinghui, Wang Yuhuan, and Ma Zhenfeng, despite extremely difficult funding. Not only did they continue to develop, but they also produced batches of excellent works. In 1994, the "Shanxi Folk Art Exhibition" held by the Provincial Department of Culture, Yangcheng Baked Noodles Dolls selected more than 30 works and won the first prize and the gold medal. In the same year, they selected 18 works to participate in the "China Folk Art Exhibition" held by the Ministry of Culture, and collectively won the silver medal, making this native folk art bud shine.
