Wind and Fire Dragon Dance
"Wind and Fire Dragon Dance" is a unique folk fire performance circulated in the Xiangyuanting area, and its origin cannot be verified. "Shui Jing Zhu" records that Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty defeated Han Wuxin in Tong L (now Ting). After the army won, they used Ting's fire meteors and dragon lantern dance to celebrate. It is widely rumored that when Li Longji was appointed as the deputy governor of Luzhou, he also came to Ting to watch the performances of red carp leaping, dragon lantern dance and fire meteors on the bank of Zhang River. For thousands of years, people have given the wind and fire dragon dance more humanistic feelings, adding to its mysterious color. The dragon dance uses special gongs and drums and drum beats to match the "fire meteor" performance. The main accompaniment instruments are dragon drums, gongs, cymbals, big cymbals, small cymbals, etc. Among them, the dragon drum is the core accompaniment instrument of the whole activity and the general conductor of the whole performance. All dispatches and performance rhythms are completed under the command and accompaniment of drum beats. The drums are thunderous, the momentum is surging, and it is exciting. Because there are candles in the dragon lantern, and it is coordinated with the fire meteor, the performance usually appears at night. The performances of the Wind and Fire Dragon Dance are diverse, including the Dragon Descending to the Underworld, Two Dragons Playing with Pearls, Dragons Trapped on the Beach, Golden Dragons Coiling on Jade Pillars, Jumping over Dragon Gates, Dragons Rolling, Turning Eight Characters, Coiling Dragons Lying on the Sea, Four Doumen, Double Flowers, Dragons Spits Beard, Dragons Spray Fire, as well as Dragon Stools and Dragon Tables, etc. There are more than 30 kinds of performances of formations. The Wind and Fire Dragon Lantern Dance has a large number of participants, strict organization, complete form, strong and vigorous dance skills, and magnificent formations. It not only contains a heavy sense of history and culture, but also has a strong contemporary atmosphere and distinctive local characteristics. It integrates dance, music, sports, acrobatics, martial arts, and entertainment, and is extremely popular and entertaining. Xiangyuan is located in the Loess Plateau, with harsh natural conditions and barren land. In addition to fighting with God, the ancestors placed their hopes for a better life in the Wind and Fire Dragon Dance.
