Ink making technique
Xinjiang County was formerly known as Jiangzhou. The production of Jiang ink is a traditional industry in the county. In the past, it was often used as a tribute. It was praised by literati and poets as "the ink is like lacquer, and it lasts for thousands of years". It has been sought after by the masses for more than a hundred years. The traditional production skills of Jiang ink are mainly distributed in Xiangfen, Houma, and Jishan, which are adjacent to Xinjiang County in the lower reaches of the Fen River. Among them, the Jiang ink produced by Ewenzhai Pen and Ink Shop is the most famous. Common materials for Jiang ink include leather glue, oil smoke, borneol, musk, cinnabar, etc. Hammering Jiang ink is a laborious job. Production workers have to beat it a hundred times alone. Kneading and pressing require clever strength. Only in this way can the ink ingots produced be fine and shiny, not sticky or astringent; grinding ink to write, black and shiny, writing with a brush, not soaking or dizzy, not fading for years, and the handwriting is as new; splashing ink to paint, the fragrance is light and thick, just as people like. The production process of Jiang ink is complex and the technical requirements are high. Nowadays, although Mr. Zhang Yongfu, the technical leader of eWenZhai, is old, he still operates it himself and teaches the skills to his son-in-law Wang Zhongsheng, intending to carry forward this skill.
