In 1892, in order to realize his dream of "prospering the country through industry", the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Zhang Bishi invested 3 million taels of silver to establish the "Changyu Winery" in Yantai, thus opening the prelude to China's wine industrialization. After more than a hundred years of development, Changyu has become the largest wine production and operation enterprise in China and even in Asia. In 1997 and 2000, Changyu B shares and A shares were successfully issued and listed. In July 2002, Changyu was rated by the China Federation of Industrial Economics as "one of the 16 national brands with the most international competitiveness to become world-famous brands". In the 2004 corporate competitiveness monitoring jointly conducted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and other authoritative institutions, Changyu's comprehensive competitiveness index ranked eighth in the food and wine industry of Chinese listed companies, becoming the only wine company to enter the top ten. Facing market opportunities and fierce challenges in the wine industry, Changyu has determined the development strategic goals for the next three years: by 2008, to achieve sales revenue of 5 billion yuan, profits and taxes of 1.5 billion yuan, to enter the top 10 of the world's wine industry, and to become an internationally renowned wine enterprise group.
