Ningxia Handmade Carpet Weaving Technique
Ningxia handmade carpet weaving skills are an extension of the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects. The Ningxia handmade carpet weaving skills became more and more sophisticated in the middle of the Qing Dynasty, and the style was basically mature. They were also regularly presented to the court as tribute and gift carpets. As tribute and gift carpets, Ningxia carpets are decorated with peony, passion flower, camellia, osmanthus, dragon and phoenix patterns, auspicious cloud patterns, bat patterns, snow mountain lion patterns, colorful butterfly patterns, etc., which symbolize auspiciousness and wealth. The composition of Ningxia carpets is mainly "metrical". This is a structure widely used in ancient Chinese feng shui and architecture, which emphasizes the coordinated layout of embracing, symmetry and center.
