One-horned puppet

Sichuan
🎧  Listen to Introduction

The one-horned puppet is surrounded by a cloth, which only occupies a few square meters. Then the Sichuan gong is hung up, the big bowl is tied to the two knees, and the left foot is covered with a pair of Sujiao. The horse gong and the small gong are placed on the small table in front of it. The right hand holds the hammer to hit the gong and other percussion instruments that need to be hit, and the left hand manipulates the puppet (the puppet is hung on the left and right sides of the cloth). Then the "noisy stage" gongs and drums are played once, and then the performance begins. Generally, the performance lasts about two hours. The performance form of the one-horned puppet is still rare in Mianyang City and even in the whole country. Because during the performance, one person has to sing, play the Sichuan opera gongs and drums with his hands and feet, and manipulate the puppets according to the needs of the plot, and do it in an orderly manner. The singing and reciting of each line of Sichuan opera are vivid. One person is a troupe, which is convenient to move and low in charge, and has played a positive role in enlivening the local amateur cultural life. The one-horned puppet, a "common people" art that enlivens the grassroots rural cultural life, is worth promoting and developing.
