Zijiang Dragon Zijiang Dragon, also known as (hand dragon), is a folk traditional dragon dance passed down from ancient times to the present in Yanting County. The ancestors who lived and multiplied along the vast Zijiang River gradually formed and developed the traditional dragon dance "Zijiang Dragon" with the theme of Zijiang water culture over time. After being passed down from generation to generation, its craftsmanship and performance skills have a history of 562 years. History Brief Introduction The vast Zijiang River originates from Zitong, passes through Yanting and Shehong, and merges into the Fu River in Shehong. It is 286 kilometers long, of which about 110.7 kilometers are in Yanting. Anjia Town at the entrance of Zijiang River, formerly known as Exi Town, is the site of Weishui County of the ancient Weishui River in the Western Jin Dynasty. The river surface is more than 200 meters wide. It is the largest water wharf in the Zijiang River Basin and the junction market of Yansantai, Zitong and Shehong. It is very prosperous. As the saying goes: "Eat near the mountains, eat near the water, and know the nature of fish near the water." The ancestors on the bank of Zijiang River, both men and women, were good at swimming. Everyone could row a boat, and every household could weave nets to catch fish. There were also thousands of hectares of farmland and rice fields. The people of Exi Town lived a life of plenty. According to folklore, there is a giant fish spirit in the Zijiang River, which often stirs up storms. When it turns over, it rains and floods, submerging farmhouses and fields on both sides of the river. The ancient town is flooded. The ancestors cried out to the sky and prayed for God's blessing. Thunder roared three times in the sky, shaking the mountains. A golden dragon appeared in the sky and flew down. Four gods, wearing gold potassium, holding a lantern in their left hand and a whip in their right hand, rode on the dragon. The clouds were immediately dispersed, the wind stopped and the rain stopped. The four gods raised their steel whips and hit the giant fish spirit in the river together. The giant fish spirit stopped moving. The people on both sides of the river were jubilant. So far, a huge stone is a witness of that year. Artistic features: The Zijiang dragon has a unique situation. There are only four people operating it. One person dances with a lantern, and three people dance together. One dragon goes into the clouds, two dragons grab treasures, open four doors, close four doors, yellow dragons collect, empty roofs, too good at hooking fish, ancient trees are full, dragons swim in the Zijiang River, and the Zijiang dragon serves an endangered intangible cultural heritage.
