Korean Disc Dance Project Batch: Provincial 2nd Batch Project Protection Unit: Gannan County Cultural Center Representative Inheritor: Li Shunhuache Yuanmei Disc Dance is similar to acrobatic performances. It originated in North Korea and began to spread in Xingxian Village, Xinglong Township, Gannan County, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province in the early 20th century. At first, people used plates, bowls, and cans as props on the rice field to celebrate the harvest, and danced impromptu with cans on their heads. Now it has evolved into performers holding 6 bowls (or more) on their heads, with clear water in the bowls, and holding 2 small plates in each hand, clinking and dancing to music or songs. There are many types of solo dances, duets, and group dances, reflecting the living customs and spiritual outlook of the Korean people, and embodying and inheriting the national cultural traditions.
