Tripoli Rashid Karami International Fair
The Rachid Karameh International Exposition in Tripoli is located in northern Lebanon. It was designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in 1962 and covers an area of 70 hectares between the historic center of Tripoli and the port of Mina. The main building of the exposition consists of a huge covered hall in the shape of a boomerang, 750 meters by 70 meters, providing a flexible exhibition space for various countries. The exposition was the flagship project of Lebanon's modernization policy in the 1960s. The close cooperation between the architect Oscar Niemeyer and Lebanese engineers on the project set an excellent example of exchange between different continents. In terms of the scale and richness of the formal expression, it is one of the main representative works of modern architecture in the Arab Near East in the 20th century.
