Qinghai Hoh Xil
Located at the northeastern end of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Hoh Xil in Qinghai is the world's largest and highest plateau. This vast system of mountains and grasslands is over 4,500 meters above sea level, with average temperatures below zero all year round. The geographical and climatic conditions of the area have fostered unique biodiversity. More than one-third of the plant species and all herbivorous mammals are endemic to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The site protects the intact migration route of the Tibetan antelope, one of the endangered large mammals endemic to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Persian Caravanserai
Caravanserai are roadside stations that provide shelter, food and water for caravans, pilgrims and other travelers. Their distribution routes and locations depend on water sources, geographical conditions, safety and other factors. The 56 caravanserai that make up the heritage are only a small part of the many caravanserai on ancient Iranian roads, but they are the most influential and valuable representatives. These caravanserai are distributed over thousands of kilometers and built over many centuries. They show diverse characteristics in terms of architectural style, adaptation to climatic conditions, and building materials. Together, they present the evolution and network of Iranian caravanserai in different historical periods.
Agricultural Landscape of Southern Öland
The southern part of the Baltic Sea island of Öland is dominated by a vast limestone plateau. Humans have lived here for about five thousand years and adapted to the natural conditions on the island. As a result, the landscape is unique and there is ample evidence of continuous human settlement from prehistoric times to the present day.
