Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt
Located on Mathildenheuvel, the highest point in the city of Darmstadt in west-central Germany, the Artists' Colony Darmstadt was founded in 1897 by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse as a center for emerging reform movements in architecture, art, and crafts. The buildings of the Artists' Colony were designed by its artist members as early modernist experimental living and working environments. The Artists' Colony was expanded during successive international exhibitions in 1901, 1904, 1908, and 1914. Today, the Artists' Colony bears witness to early modern architecture, urban planning, and landscape design, all of which were influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement and the Vienna Secession. The two-part collection includes 23 elements, such as the Wedding Tower (1908), the Exhibition Pavilion (1908), the Plane Grove (1833, 1904-14), the Russian Church of St. Mary Magdalene (1897-99), the Lily Basin, the Monument to Gottfried Schwab (1905), the Pavilion and Gardens (1914), the "Swan Temple" Garden Pavilion (1914), the Ernst Ludwig Fountain, and 13 houses and artists' studios built for the Darmstadt Artists' Colony and the International Exhibition. Three house complexes built for the 1904 Exhibition are an additional component.
Tianjin Science and Technology Museum
Tianjin Science and Technology Museum is located in the southwest of Tianjin City, on the coast of Bohai Sea in northern China. Since September 20, 2008, the museum's exhibition hall has been open to the public free of charge. Tianjin Science and Technology Museum covers an area of 20,000 square meters and a construction area of 18,000 square meters. The permanent exhibition hall is 10,000 square meters. The spherical cosmic theater above the main building is equipped with dome film projection equipment and digital electronic planetarium projection equipment imported from the United States, which can show natural science films and various astronomical programs. It has screened more than 10,000 science and education films and astronomical programs, popularizing scientific knowledge to the general public, promoting the scientific spirit, and spreading scientific ideas and methods. It has played an important role in improving citizens' scientific literacy and implementing the strategy of "prospering the city through science and education." It has been named "National Popular Science Education Base", "National Youth Science and Technology Education Base", "National Primary and Secondary School Patriotism Education Base" by relevant state ministries and commissions, and has won more than 60 honorary titles such as "National Advanced Collective for Popular Science Work" and "National Advanced Unit for Spiritual Civilization Construction". Today, Tianjin Science and Technology Museum has become a favorite cultural and leisure place for the people of Tianjin and a major tourist attraction on the coast of Bohai Sea, playing a very important role in the construction of Tianjin's spiritual civilization and improving the scientific and cultural quality of the public.
Boxer Rebellion Memorial Hall
The Xingtai Weixian Boxer Memorial Hall was built with an investment of more than 8 million yuan to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Boxer Movement. It is located at the southern end of the Yihe Square in Weixian County, Xingtai City, covering an area of 40 mu and a construction area of 5,447 square meters. It is a large building that integrates local characteristics, national style, and modern architectural style. The hall systematically displays large-scale exhibitions that fully reflect the Boxer Movement.
Baoding Museum
Since its opening, in order to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the general public, the museum has successively held exhibitions such as "Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Baoding City", "For Tomorrow - Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency Exhibition", "Blood-stained Monument" - Exhibition of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and "Large-scale Wild Rare Animal Specimens Exhibition". In particular, the "Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency" exhibition pioneered the large-scale exhibition in Baoding City. Once launched, the exhibition aroused strong social response, gave young people a vivid legal and moral education lesson, and achieved huge social benefits. The exhibition successfully toured two provinces and five cities, received a total of 160,000 visitors, gave more than 1,600 lectures, and received more than 700 impressions.
