Landscapes of Dauria
The site, located between Mongolia and the Russian Federation, is an outstanding example of the Daur Steppe ecoregion, which stretches from eastern Mongolia to Russian Siberia and northeastern China. Cyclic climate change, with distinct wet and dry periods, results in a diversity of species and ecosystems of global significance. The steppe ecosystems vary in type, such as steppes and forests, as well as lakes and wetlands, and are home to rare animals such as white-naped cranes, great bustards, relict gulls and swan geese, as well as millions of vulnerable, endangered or threatened migratory birds. It is also a key site on the transboundary migration path of the Mongolian gazelle.
Great Burkhan Khaldun Mountain and its surrounding sacred landscape
The site is located in the middle of the Kent Mountains in northeastern Mongolia, where the vast Central Asian steppes meet the Siberian taiga. Burkhan Khaldun is associated with the worship of sacred mountains, rivers, and oboos (shamanic heaps), with rituals that blend ancient shamanic and Buddhist practices. The site is also believed to be the birthplace and burial place of Genghis Khan. It bears witness to his efforts to establish mountain worship as an essential part of the unification of the Mongolian people.
Campanile Holiday Manor
Kangba Nor Holiday Manor is about 6 kilometers west of the county seat, 350 kilometers north of Erlian and south of Beijing. Zhangku Avenue crosses the county and is a transportation fortress to Inner Mongolia. It plays the role of a bridgehead and distribution center in the communication of Hebei-Inner Mongolia trade. The manor covers an area of 4,000 acres. There are three-star hotels, European-style villas, yurts, knight bars, bonfire squares, Kangba tribal villages, etc. in the manor. The area is surrounded by mountains on three sides and flat on one side. The grassland is vast, the average height of the plant crown is about 0.45 meters, and the coverage is more than 95%. The sky is clear and the ground is green, the air is fresh, and the grassland landscape with blue sky, clear water and green ground attracts various birds and wild animals to live here. It is an ideal place for tourists to relax, vacation, sightseeing, entertainment and recreation. There is a largest Aobao at the entrance of the manor, with a diameter of about 20 meters, a height of about 8 meters, and an area of about 320 square meters. Every year from August 8th to 10th, Kangbao County’s largest tourist event, the China Kangbao Grassland Kite Friendship Competition, is grandly held in the scenic area.
