Sinharaja Forest Reserve
Sinharaja, located in southwestern Sri Lanka, is the country’s last remaining intact tropical rainforest. More than 60% of the trees are endemic, many of which are considered rare. There is a wealth of endemic wildlife, especially birds, but the reserve is also home to more than 50% of Sri Lanka’s endemic mammal and butterfly species, as well as a wide variety of insects, reptiles and rare amphibians.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Located at the junction of the plains and mountain forests in southwestern Uganda, Bwindi Park covers 32,000 hectares and is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, with more than 160 species of trees and more than 100 species of ferns. Many species of birds and butterflies can also be found there, as well as many endangered species, including the mountain gorilla.
