Fengxin's relatively closed environment and effective protection of the ancient Chinese farming skills for thousands of years. Earth paper making skills are a traditional skill passed down for more than a thousand years. Fengxin Earth Paper uses tender bamboo as the main raw material and is made through five steps: producing hemp, soaking hemp, pounding hemp, making paper, and drying paper. The mountainous area of Fengxin, located in the south of the Yangtze River, is rich in bamboo and wood resources, which provides natural conditions for the production of earth paper. The villagers in Zaoxi, Baizhangshan, Liuxi, Ganfang, Shixi, Yangshan and other places make earth paper as their main sideline, and it became the main product of Fengxin's foreign trade at that time. To this day, Fengxin's mountainous towns still retain a large number of this earth paper making crafts, which is an important part of the sideline of mountain farmers. Song Yingxing used a special chapter in the 13th volume of "The Exploitation of the Works of Nature" to record the bamboo paper making skills of Fengxin. At present, due to the development of the times, the local paper making skills are also facing an endangered state.
