Luojia Lion Dance is a kind of folk lantern that is popular in Wenzhen area of Jinxian County. It was created by Luo Xiangzhang, a martial artist in the village, during the Daoguang period of the late Qing Dynasty. It has a history of more than 100 years. Luojia Lion Dance is divided into civil lion and martial lion, also known as Luojia "double lion dance". Lion dance is performed by two people, one dancing the head and the other dancing the tail, led by boxing, broadsword, double sword, and stick fighters, respectively. There are both the flips and rolls of dragon lantern dance and the jumps, climbing and thrilling of lion dance. In performance, civil lion focuses on expression, and the movements are delicate, humorous, relaxed and free and easy. Martial lion focuses on martial arts skills, and the movements are mighty, fierce and sturdy. In the 1950s, on the basis of the original lion dance, a set of movements such as "breaking the lion with bare hands" were created, and martial arts and lion dance began to be perfectly combined for performance. After the 1960s, after continuous processing and innovation by artists, especially the improvement of bamboo strips, lion hair and other production materials, a whole set of procedures such as "breaking the lion with a broadsword", "breaking the lion with a three-section whip", and "the lion on the second-story square table" were added. In addition, it is equipped with a walk-through, which cleverly combines "dance" and "martial arts" perfectly. The strength and freedom of martial arts and the delicacy, humor and majesty of lion dance complement each other, enhance the viewing experience, and make the whole performance have a strong artistic effect. The three sets of music and dance for fighting and rolling lions are even more excellent in audio-visual effects. After the continuous efforts of several generations of folk artists, the unique folk lantern art of Luojia "double lion dance" has been formed today. Wenzhen Luojia lion dance mainly circulated in Luojia, Lingli, Gangchang, Shanxia and other villages within the jurisdiction of this town. In the 1950s, it began to spread to surrounding towns such as Quanling, Jiaqiao, Yunqiao, Fengcen, and as far as towns in Nanchang, Fengcheng, Wannian, Jiujiang and other places. Luo Family Lion Dance is a different school from the famous Southern Lion and Northern Lion in my country. It is a flower in the folk art of Jinxian County. It has extremely high research value for local folk martial arts, dance and music, and is a precious spiritual wealth that enlivens and enriches the cultural life of the masses.
