Ruyuan Yao Nationality Panwang Festival
The Yao ethnic group's Panwang Festival originated from the Panwang Festival singing party on the 16th day of the 10th lunar month. On this day, the Yao people gather together to sing and dance to commemorate Panwang, and gradually developed into the Panwang Festival. Today's Panwang Festival has gradually developed into a social gathering to celebrate the harvest. Young men and women take this opportunity to express their love through songs and find their ideal partners. The "Panwang Festival" of the Guoshan Yao, also known as "Returning Panwang's Wish", is held by a single household or by the whole village. The deadline for the Panwang Festival is three days and three nights or seven days and seven nights. Its ceremony is mainly divided into two parts. The first part is "inviting the saint, ranking, shining, calling for crops, returning the wish, and thanking the saint". During the whole ceremony, the suona band accompanies the whole process, and the master dances the "Panwang Dance" ("Bronze Bell Dance", "Dispatching and Retracting Troops Dance", "Agreement Dance", "Sacrificing to Soldiers Dance", "Catching Turtle Dance", etc.); the second part is to invite the Yao ethnic group's ancestral gods and all the people to come to "Liu Le", which means to have fun in the Yao language. This is the main part of the Panwang Festival. The Yao ancestors are invited to participate in the various literary and artistic entertainment activities of the Panwang Festival, and sing the historical long poem "Panwang Great Song" that expresses the Yao mythology, history, politics, economy, culture and art, social life and other contents. The Liule ceremony usually lasts for one day and one night. The Panwang Festival ceremony is presided over by 4 chief priests, each with his own duties, including the vow-fulfilling priest, the military sacrifice priest, the military reward priest, and the grain priest. Each has an assistant, a total of 8 people. In addition, there are 4 singing girls, 6 boys and girls, 1 long drum artist and a suona band participating in the Panwang Festival. Its inheritance is mainly based on apprenticeship and family inheritance. As a popular festival with a long history and widespread distribution, the Panwang Festival is a culmination of the traditional culture of the Yao people. It is a humanistic festival that enhances the centripetal force of the nation and maintains national unity. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
