Shanxian drum music is a branch of the drum music in southwestern Shandong. It is simple and hearty, beautiful and delicate, and full of strong local flavor and life atmosphere. The forms of performance include: marching performance, which is used in occasions such as welcoming the bride, funerals and festivals; sitting performance, that is, the musicians sit around the table, blowing and playing, and often play some big tunes or card plays. Shanxian County is known as the "hometown of suona". The art of drum and blow here has a long history. It is a folk instrumental music that is particularly popular among the people. It has a deep mass base and has been popular for generations. The drum and blow music classes are spread throughout the city and the countryside. According to preliminary statistics, there are currently about several "sound classes" in the county, with more than 200 artists.
