Susong Fragrant Buds are produced in Liuping Township, Susong County. They are green teas made from fresh leaves of single buds or one bud and one leaf picked around the Qingming Festival. The tea has a beautiful appearance, mellow aroma, and a fresh and sweet taste. It is a rare treasure among green teas. Liuping Township has a long history of tea production. The early history cannot be verified. The historical materials that can be verified now include the "Susong County Chronicles" compiled in the 28th year of Kangxi and the 8th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty. Historically, people in mountainous areas have been planting and making tea for generations, and have created a rich tea culture in the process of production and life. In 1915, Liuping Township's "Songluo Tea" won the gold medal at the Panama World Expo; in 1959, it was named one of the top ten famous teas in the country; and in 1985, it won the national gold medal. "Sparrow Tongue" and "Guyujian" are also the names given by local tea farmers to their special and first-grade green teas. At the beginning of the 21st century, with the guidance and help of professional tea technology personnel, Wu Guozhen and Wu Weimin, descendants of a tea-making family, studied the traditional tea-making techniques of the local "Songluo", "Maqueshe" and "Guyujian", refined and integrated them, and formulated a complete set of standardized process flows and technical standards. They also used their standards to create the famous series of tea products, Susong Xiangya. In 2005, Susong Xiangya won the gold medal at the first Anqing Tea Industry Expo and the silver medal at the sixth "China Tea Cup", which greatly promoted the development of the tea industry in Liuping Township and made great contributions to the local political, economic and cultural construction.
