Weiqi gongs and drums are a traditional reserved program of Weiqi Village, Erqu Town, Zhouzhi County. It has a long history and is commonly known as "magnificent gongs and drums". It was called "beating drums to stab Qin" in ancient times. There are two different versions of the legend of "beating drums to stab Qin". One version comes from the allusion of "Jingke stabbing Qin". It is said that the drum score was compiled to commemorate the hero Jingke who was not afraid of danger and dared to fight. Another version is that during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the vassal states fought against each other. Whenever the King of Qin sent troops, he would beat drums to cheer and boost morale, thus being invincible, defeating the heroes and unifying the Central Plains. According to the older generation of Weiqi Village, Weiqi Village was originally named Bianqianghao. The village is divided into north and south ends. A Guan Gong Temple was built. Every temple fair must be played with community fire and gongs and drums. The drum score has a martial arts style. At that time, there were only more than ten people in the gong and drum team. Over the past 20 years, the lineup has grown from the original 20 to 30 people to more than 200 people now. The performance skills are improving day by day, and the costumes and utensils are constantly updated, becoming the representative work of Zhouzhi gongs and drums. After the evolution and development of history, Weiqi Gonggu has continuously absorbed useful nutrients from other art forms on the basis of inheritance, so that it has been continuously enriched and improved, but its basic characteristics of being strong, rough, shocking and inspiring remain unchanged. There are 150 basic performers of Weiqi Gonggu, and another 50 are replacements. The performance form has added plywood dance, umbrella, fan dance, silk dance, trombone and other contents on the basis of traditional drums, hairpins and gongs. The performance is generally divided into three chapters. The first section is the opening gongs and drums, which are also the gongs and drums before the war. The second section is the gongs and drums for chess. The third section is the festive gongs and drums, which are also the triumphal gongs and drums. The drums are cheerful and bright, festive and warm, and are the drums for soldiers to celebrate their victories. Weiqi Gonggu is a good performer in Zhouzhi County Gonggu performances, and is deeply appreciated by the people and well received by the cultural and art circles. He has participated in provincial and municipal large-scale conferences, celebration performances, etc. many times, and has won the first prize in the provincial and municipal folk art gong and drum competitions; he has twice visited the "Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor", the ancestor of humanities, to participate in public sacrifice celebrations.
