Haicheng stilts Yangko has a long history. According to the literature of the Qing Dynasty, it has a history of more than 300 years. In the late Qing Dynasty, Haicheng stilts became more and more mature, forming a team of professional and semi-professional artists. The artists have unique skills and their own strengths, so its inheritance pedigree is spectacular. From the first generation of inheritors Xiao Jinzi and Dalaizi in 1820, to the second generation of Hong, Pink, Yellow, Blue, White, and Qing Liuduojuhua (stage name) in 1887, the third generation Zhang Jiurong (stage name Bai Caixin) in 1902, Wu Kuiyi (named Zhuadihu) and Wang Fengxiang (named Gundilei) in 1940, the fifth generation Wang Liancheng (named Wang Xiaobian) in 1951, the sixth generation Chen Shiyou (Xiaosheng) and Qin Li (Xiaodan) in 1970, many outstanding stilt artists have emerged. Haicheng stilts yangko is a folk dance that is very popular among the people. Its keynote is jubilation, unrestrainedness, enthusiasm and fieryness, while its characteristics are elegance, lyricism, humor and wit. The unity of the two constitutes the artistic characteristics of Haicheng stilts yangko, and derives the four major technical elements of "twisting, waving, teasing and matching". In the performance of Haicheng stilts yangko, the magnificent large scene and the light and delicate small scene include various forms such as music, dance, acrobatics, and opera, forming a comprehensive folk square art with dance as the main body. Haicheng stilts yangko has a wide influence not only locally but also at home and abroad. In 1988, it won the championship in the National Square Folk Dance Competition. Since 1997, it has participated in various grand performances at home and abroad many times. Its performance is unique, showing the characteristics of stilts yangko in the Northeast. Haicheng stilts yangko was once glorious in history and has been passed down among the people. However, due to the death of some old artists, there is a lack of successors. At present, its performance skills are facing the danger of being lost and urgently need to be rescued and protected.
