Dragon boat racing is a traditional recreational sports activity in Tongren where many ethnic groups participate. When the Dragon Boat Festival comes, they gather early at Tongyan, where the two rivers converge in the south of the city, waiting for the competition. At that time, the entire Tongren city is empty, and men, women, young and old of all ethnic groups gather on both sides of the Jinjiang River to watch the dragon boat race. Wooden dragon boats shuttled across the Jinjiang River, and the sound of firecrackers, shouts, and cheers continued. The water and the shore were bustling with activity. This presented a joyful scene of people and water blending and ethnic integration in this hot land with water as the medium. Dragon boat racing in Tongren not only has a long history and a broad mass base, but also has formed a multi-ethnic dragon boat water culture of humanistic harmony and tranquility through a series of traditional customs such as offering sacrifices to dragon boats, dotting dragon eyes, launching dragon boats, dragon boat racing, grabbing ducks, and fishing.
