The D people are a unique social group. They float on the rivers and seas all year round, use boats as their homes, and fish as their profession. They live anywhere and travel with the tides. The D people in Xiamen are now gathered in Xiagang Street, Siming District. Through long-term integration with fishermen from other places who come to Xiamen, they have created many unique customs and habits in pursuit of life, development of production, prayer for life extension, and worship of gods. For example, in marriage customs, D boats are close to each other when getting married at sea, and the woman goes to the man's boat, and a couple's boat is added; the D girl's headdress is a "chimney hoop" made of red yarn on her head; the large fishing boat was created, which became the standard fishing boat in southern Fujian; the D people respect the Chinese white dolphin as "Mazu fish" and "port fish", etc.
