The origin of Huotong's "February 2" Lantern Festival can be traced back to the Sui Dynasty. According to records, Huang Ju, a Sui Dynasty counselor, moved to Xian Village to avoid Emperor Yang of Sui1, and later moved to Shiqiao Village with his uncle Zhu Fu, who had settled there in his early years. In order to repay his uncle's friendship, a lantern festival was held on the first day of the second lunar month, his uncle's birthday. During the day, stilts were performed, and in the evening, paper-making, iron skills, lion dances, dragon dances and other entertainments were held. Later, it spread to the entire Huotong village. At the lantern festival, acrobatics and competitive events were brilliant, especially the Huotong lion dance.
