Fujian
🎧 Listen to Introduction
Porcelain carving is a traditional decorative technique commonly used in temple buildings in southern Fujian, and has a great influence in today's Fujian, Taiwan and even Southeast Asia. It selects various colorful glazed porcelain bowls and plates, or uses damaged and cheap colored porcelain as materials, and uses pliers, wooden hammers, grinding wheels and other tools to cut, knock and grind them into porcelain pieces of different shapes and sizes as needed. They are used to carve figures, animals, flowers, landscapes, and decorate the roof corners and murals of temples, palaces and other buildings. They are brightly colored, vividly shaped, have a strong sense of subjectivity, and do not fade for a long time.
