She folk songs

Fujian
🎧  Listen to Introduction

The She people love to sing, and they often write down songs in Chinese characters to record She phonetics. In the old society, the She people had no chance to receive cultural education, so they regarded learning and singing as an important cultural life. Therefore, before the 1960s, folk songs were popularized at a high rate. They often used songs to communicate feelings, to discuss things, to promote good and punish evil, to spread knowledge, to compete with wisdom, and formed a set of singing customs for working in the mountains, receiving guests, and weddings and funerals. The singing forms of the She people include solo, duet, and chorus. Among them, unaccompanied mountain songs are the most favorite form of music for the She people.
