Nanyin, also known as Nanqu, is one of the oldest existing musical genres in China, formed by the accumulation of diverse cultures over the dynasties. It originated in the Han, Jin and Tang dynasties and was popular in southern Fujian. Its musical instruments began in the Han and Tang dynasties, and its music began in the ancient music of the Sui and Tang dynasties. It has its own fingering, gongche notation and lyrics in the southern Fujian dialect, forming its own system. When playing, the pipa and sanxian are on the right, and the dongxiao and erxian are on the left. The singer is in the middle and holds the clappers himself. It is known as the "living fossil of Chinese music history". Dongshan's Nanyin is mainly distributed in Tongling Town. Tongling "Yuyuexuan" Nanyin Society was built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty.
