Dongjing Dragon Dance is an outstanding representative of Hunan dragon dance. It has been developing and evolving on the basis of retaining the original artistic style. It is a microcosm of folk dragon dance in Changsha. Dongjing Dragon Dance is quite popular in Dongjingpu Town, Changsha City, Hunan Province. In 2008, Dongjing Dragon Dance was identified as the second batch of intangible cultural heritage list items in Hunan Province. There are many types of dragon dance in Dongjing area, including "cloth dragon", "three-section dragon", "human dragon", "long dragon" and so on. Each kind of dragon has its own different schools and styles, and the playing methods are different. "Cloth dragon" is a popular folk collective dance that is popular among the masses. This kind of dragon has a small head and is divided into 9 and 11 sections, and each section is 6 feet apart. The head and the second section, the tail and the eighth section are 7 feet apart, and the sixth section is the main section, which is 6 feet long (this length refers to the length of the dragon clothes). The main dance methods include: playing with silk, arranging patterns, arranging words, etc. "Human dragon" is a large-scale barehand dance. This kind of "human dragon" does not use any props. It is completely connected by adults and children. The dance movements are simple, mainly "S"-shaped walking and undulating marching. The modeling movements are mainly circling, and no major changes and adjustments can be made. It is mainly composed of adults and children staggered by hand. "Long dragon" is also called "swinging dragon". It is very popular in Changsha area and Dongjing Town. This kind of dragon head is heavy and large, the dragon body is thick in diameter, and the body length is generally 13 to 15 sections. It is not suitable for large dances. It mainly shows the momentum of the dragon. The performance is mainly running. The performance of "three-section dragon" is mainly the cooperation of dragon dancers on the high platform. People and dragons cannot collide or fall off the high platform. The dance steps, movements, and playing methods are similar to cloth dragons. Because there are fewer people, the movements are simpler. Dragon head and dragon tail of dragon dance products: generally tied with bamboo strips, mounted with leather thread, coated with varnish, and colored. The dragon head is slightly larger than one-third of the dragon handle, and the dragon tail is slightly larger than the dragon handle. There is no uniform regulation on the size of the dragon head and tail. They can be made according to the situation, just for the convenience of playing. Dragon clothes: Made of good and soft cloth. Mainly in festive and rich colors such as bright red and yellow, you can also use dark blue to make a green dragon and silver to make a white dragon, but there must be red flowers on the head, and scales are painted on the dragon clothes to form a wavy pattern. Costumes: The clothes of dragon dancers are generally bordered with colorful cloth, leggings, cloth socks and straw sandals, and a triangular scarf on the head. Now, more fashionable performance costumes are generally used, requiring bright colors, uniformity, beauty, and generosity, which are easy to dance. Dragon dance music The music of Dongjing Dragon Dance has no fixed tune. Generally, national percussion instruments and suona are used to play some familiar folk music and minor tunes. Such as "Victory Order", "Ten Lanterns", "Wang Lang", etc. After the founding of New China, some modern music began to be played. Such as "Good Days", "Unity is Strength", "Socialism is Good", "Without 0, There Would Be No New China", "Liuyang River", etc. In short, the music of dragon dance should be cheerful and lively, with a brisk, bright, crisp and festive rhythm. The dragon dance team is divided into the leading team, dragon and rear guard. The leading team is equipped with long trumpets, big gongs, big drums, 68 triangular flags and lanterns. The lanterns used to be written with the name of the county hall, but now they are written with auspicious words such as "Congratulations on making a fortune", "Family happiness" and "Happy New Year". The national percussion band can be in the leading team or the rear guard. There is no fixed position for the arrangement of the band, which can be determined according to the "dragon" and performance requirements.
