The Dulong people live in Gongshan Dulong and Nu Autonomous County of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture and adjacent areas. Historically, they have been isolated from the outside world for a long time. However, in the long course of history, they have created various art forms with distinct ethnic characteristics. Among them, folk songs are an important category. Many Dulong epics, myths, legends, stories, ballads, etc. are inherited and passed down from generation to generation through singing. On occasions such as harvesting, hunting, building houses, weddings or New Year festivals, the Dulong people like to express their inner joy and happiness through singing and dancing. In the Dulong language, folk songs are generally called "menzu". There are many types of Dulong folk songs. According to the subject matter and the musical structure of the melody, they can be divided into narrative songs, love songs, custom songs, labor songs, mountain songs, dance songs, children's songs, sacrificial songs, etc. From the perspective of musical genres, each melody can sing a wider range of subject matter. Narrative songs are the richest category of Dulong folk songs. The most typical ones are ancient songs, such as the Genesis ancient song "Chelabu", which tells the origin of mankind and the survival process of all things on earth. The lyrics are mainly six-word form, interspersed with seven, eight, and nine words. The melody is similar to the tone of recitation, and the antiphonal singing technique is used, with neat parallelism and balanced rhythm. There are very few old artists who can sing the Genesis ancient song "Chelabu" in full. Another more distinctive type is the "complaint tune" in narrative songs. Almost every song describes a moving story, and the content mostly reflects the tragic experience of the Dulong people in the old society. The singer usually sings in the first person. The love song "Si Gongjin, can you hear it" can be sung by most young men and women in the Dulongjiang area to express love. The lyrics vary according to the male and female singers. The custom song "Zhu Hun Diao" reflecting the wedding customs is a folk song sung by the elders in the form of singing and dancing to congratulate the newlyweds at the wedding. Most men and women over 40 years old can sing it. It is more popular in Dizhengdang, Longyuan, Xianjiudang and other areas of Dulong River. The labor song "Amawa Menzu" for threshing grain is a folk song sung during collective labor, such as when packing grain, threshing wheat, pulling wood, etc. It plays a role in assisting and coordinating and unifying actions during the labor process. It is widely circulated in Longyuan, Xianjiudang, Dizhengdang, Kongmu and other places in Dulong River. Most Dulong folk songs are short and lyrical, with bright rhythms, smooth melodies, and prominent ethnic styles. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
