Yiyang Tanci is a unique form of folk art in Hunan, and is also the main type of folk art in Yiyang. Yiyang, located in central Hunan, the lower reaches of Zishui River, and the shore of Dongting Lake, has always been a distribution center for materials in the Zishui River Basin and the counties along Dongting Lake, and is known as the land of fish and rice. Because of its active economy and prosperous culture, the place name is used as the name of the song Yiyang Tanci. During the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, it was widely spread in Yiyang, Yuanjiang, Nanxian, Taojiang, Anhua and other places, and has a history of more than 180 years. After the inheritance and development of folk artists from generation to generation, Yiyang Tanci has formed a set of its own unique lines and lyrics, singing tunes and singing programs, becoming a local folk art with a unique form and using the local spoken vocabulary of Yiyang in the Xiang dialect system. Yiyang Tanci has a long history, unique performance forms, and strong local color. It will play an important role in enriching and perfecting the history of Hunan and even China's folk art. Discovering, rescuing and protecting Yiyang Tanci will play an important role in promoting the spiritual civilization construction of the whole province, enriching the cultural life of the people and building a socialist harmonious society. Yiyang Tanci has played an important role in persuading people to be kind, spreading moral ethics, promoting anti-Japanese patriotism, invigorating the cultural life of the people and building a harmonious society in ancient and modern history. In 1983, the Yiyang City Quyi Group was awarded the honorary title of "National Advanced Collective" by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the China Association of the Blind and Deaf.
