Yidu Story
Yidu Stories are well-known inside and outside the province for their strong local characteristics. In 1995, Yidu City was named "Hometown of Hubei Folk Art (Stories)" by the Hubei Provincial Department of Culture, and in 2000 it was named "Hometown of Chinese Folk Art (Stories)" by the Ministry of Culture of China. In May 2000, Yidu City was named the Hometown of Chinese Folk Stories; in November 2004, Yidu Stories were included in the national key protection objects of ethnic and folk culture. This is the result of many years of hard work by Yidu cultural and artistic workers. For a long time, Yidu has invested a lot of manpower and material resources around the excavation and sorting of characteristic culture, and has achieved remarkable results. Yidu Stories are spread throughout the towns and villages of Yidu City. Before 1949, the most popular places were the old streets such as the ship docks, Lucheng, Zhicheng, Yangxi, Honghuatao, and Gulaobei in the region. According to textual research and the memories of old artists, Yidu Stories were very popular before the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
