Zhangjiakou Great Wall Brewing (Group) Co., Ltd. is located in Shacheng Town, Huailai County. The history of winemaking in Shacheng can be traced back to more than 600 years. In the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1398), there was a good water Longtan Spring for winemaking in the ancient Baoan Prefecture, which is today's Shacheng Town. Traveling merchants settled here and started brewing. The products sold well and were rich. By the Tianshun period of the Ming Dynasty (1457-1464), there were more than 30 jar houses in Shacheng, and Shacheng was famous for its wine production. The name "Shajiu" comes from the imperial title of Emperor Kangxi. According to the records of Xuanhua Prefecture and Baoan Prefecture, in the eleventh year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1673), the emperor went on a tour of Zhangjiakou and passed through Shacheng. He saw jars everywhere and the aroma of wine was overflowing. He tasted it and said that "the wine is very good" and named it "Shajiu". He ordered the Queen Mother to drink it and selected it as a tribute. Since then, people in Kyoto have been competing to get a drink. Mongolian and Han merchants also sold Shajiu to Baotou and Ulaanbaatar, and Shajiu became famous. After liberation, the state took over private vat houses and established the "46th Public Winery of North China Wine Industry Professional Company" in Shacheng. This is the predecessor of Great Wall Brewing (Group) Co., Ltd. The brewing process of Shacheng Laojiao is a mud pool fermentation and old five-steamer process after the transformation of the "Shajiu" process. Sorghum is used as raw material and rice husk is used as filler; barley and peas are used to make "Fuqu" with different fermentation periods and stored for more than one year for production. After several generations of efforts, Shacheng Laojiao, the representative product of Shacheng liquor, has become a famous brand in Hebei. Shacheng Laojiao won the title of provincial excellence in 1985, the title of ministerial excellence in 1990, and was rated as a famous brand in Hebei in 1996. It was rated as a key famous brand in Hebei in 1997 and 1998, and was rated as a famous brand in Hebei in 2000 and 2003. Since 1996, the "Shacheng" trademark has been a famous trademark in Hebei Province.
