Yi County is located in the western part of Hebei Province, on the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain, and on the northwestern edge of the North China Plain. Coiled porcelain is a new technology in the ceramic industry of the Tang Dynasty, which had not yet appeared before the Tang Dynasty. The so-called coiled porcelain is a ceramic handicraft made by mixing red and white clay together, throwing into shape, and then firing in a kiln. Its pattern resembles wood grain and rotating pattern. The pattern formed by throwing runs through the inner and outer walls of the pottery, and the process is very difficult. The production process of coiled porcelain was interrupted after the "Jingkang Change" in the Song Dynasty, and only a few coiled porcelain cultural relics have been preserved to this day. Yi County coiled porcelain not only follows the traditional technology of ancient coiled porcelain, but also absorbs the advantages of painted pottery in color and design. It has a novel and beautiful shape and a delicate and soft feel. It is an artistic treasure that integrates appreciation, collection, and practical use. Ordinary ceramics are glazed, painted, carved, pasted and other methods are used on the surface after the blank is formed to achieve the purpose of decoration or artistic creation, while the twisted porcelain is made into various abstract artistic pictures according to the twisting method and the color of the clay, and the patterns are connected from the outside to the inside. It not only has a texture similar to gemstones, but also has the characteristics of simplicity, elegance and preciousness, novel, beautiful and soft visual, firm, delicate and simple feel, and the blank has patterns inside and outside. Yixian twisted porcelain fully reflects the strong national flavor and unique artistic style of traditional Chinese art. Zhang Baojun of Yi County began to develop the coiling porcelain craft in 1986, incorporating modern aesthetic tastes and artistic design into it. After countless repeated experiments, he created a number of ideal coiling porcelain works and successfully developed a series of coiling porcelain landscape works, ending the historical conclusion that the coiling porcelain craft is "something you can only encounter by chance but not by effort". He incorporated modern abstract design into the coiling porcelain craft, so that points, lines, surfaces, colors, virtuality and reality as well as modern composition can be reflected in the coiling porcelain, breaking the history that ceramics can only be decorated on the surface of the vessel by means of carving, engraving, spraying, coating, dyeing, painting, pasting and inlaying. This has also enabled the art of coiling porcelain to continue, making it a dazzling artistic wonder in today's Chinese national culture.
