"Hang Dan" is a folk custom of the Zhuang people in Jingxi. It has the same origin as the song fairs in other areas of the Zhuang nationality, but it is different from the general song fairs. In the "Hang Dan" of the Zhuang people in Jingxi, "Hang" is a Zhuang pronunciation, which means "fair" in Chinese. "Dan" is also a Zhuang pronunciation, which means birth and festival. "Hang Dan" is the day to celebrate the opening of the market. This folk custom is mainly based on singing in other places, so some people call it "Song Fair". "Song Fair" is the transcription of Zhuang culture by Han culture. In Jingxi, it is only called "Hang Dan" instead of "Song Fair". It is the day when people celebrate the opening of the market, and it is also a regular gathering of relatives and friends, with singing for fun. At the same time, it is an important time for cultural and sports activities and commodity trading. It is a festival that combines singing and fairs. The "Hang Dan" of the Zhuang people in Jingxi is popular in the villages and streets of 19 towns in the county. The dates of the "Hang Dan" in each village and street are different, mostly concentrated in spring and autumn. Generally, there is an activity once a year in a place, and there are also activities twice a year. In some places, three consecutive fair days are even arranged, which has become a custom. According to incomplete statistics, there are 61 "Hangan Festival" sites in the county, and most of these sites are traditional market days, and some originally did not have market days, but gathered to celebrate on "Hangan Festival" days. At present, about 80 "Hangan Festival" sites still have activities. The administrative divisions of Jingxi County were set up since the establishment of Guichun Prefecture in the second year of Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty (714 AD) (renamed Guishun Prefecture in the third year of Yuanhe, i.e. 808 AD). Ande Prefecture was added in the twelfth year of Zhenyuan (796 AD). Similar records in historical documents can be found in "Lingwai Daida" written by Zhou Qufei in the Song Dynasty; in the 1770s, the prefect of Zhenan Prefecture (Jingxi was formerly under the jurisdiction of Zhenan Prefecture) Zhao Yi wrote "Zhenan Local Customs" in the early Qing Dynasty, which contains the line "jumping to the moon market, marrying spring customs and singing" to describe the border market. From this, it can be shown that the "Hangan Festival" of the Zhuang people in Jingxi was formed at least in the Song Dynasty and became popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Since the reform and opening up, with the continuous improvement of the cultural life of the masses, the government has increased its investment in folk art groups, and the enthusiasm of various towns in Jingxi County to hold song fairs has increased year by year. In the song fair, in addition to the traditional folk song competition, throwing embroidered balls, grabbing fireworks, parading on the stage, and dragon and lion dances are also particularly eye-catching. At the same time, art performances have also become a bright highlight in the song fair. Most of the performance teams are amateur art teams of "mud legs" in the county. The performance programs are mainly traditional Nanlu Zhuang opera, Molun, string puppet show, Zhuang dialect sketches, and folk dances. Because most of the performances are in Jingxi local Zhuang dialect, they are authentic hometown dramas. These activities use folk culture as elements, daily labor as the theme, the new spirit and new fashion of the times as the carrier, and traditional song fairs as the platform to display unique folk culture and art, prosper urban and rural literature and art, greatly enrich the content of "Hanging Festival", and extend the practical significance of "Hanging Festival". Jingxi Zhuang "Hanging Festival" activities, based on the market, are an organic and comprehensive folk activity integrating entertainment, economy, and social interaction. Since its creation, it has been playing the role of entertaining secular life, promoting economic exchanges, and enhancing interpersonal communication. It is an indispensable custom in the life of the Zhuang people in Jingxi. It can also be said that "Hang Dan" is a gathering place for traditional culture, and "Hang Dan" bears the responsibility of preserving and inheriting traditional national culture. It should be valued and inherited and carried forward by people. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
