Dressing up stories (second batch at provincial level) "Dressing up stories" is a folk custom activity in Huping Township, Le'an County, with a grand scale and a warm atmosphere. According to the genealogy of Jinglie, the Hanshang Wang family in Huping, "During the Northern Song Dynasty (970), the founding ancestor Wang Yannian moved from Taiyuan, Shanxi to Huping, Le'an, and brought the story of dressing up. It became popular during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Activities must be held every Mid-Autumn Festival, and the event has continued from generation to generation. The traditional activity time of "Dressing up stories" in Huping is from the ninth to the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. A month ago, the heads of the seven Wang families in the village carefully selected dozens of healthy, lively, and beautiful 15-year-old boys and girls from each family in their own family. On the morning of the ninth day of the first lunar month, they gathered in front of the Wang family ancestral hall. According to the requirements of the story plot, other heads helped the children dress up and tied them to the wooden story frame. The story frame is divided into two layers. The upper layer must be girls (it is said that the iron rings on the upper layer are easy to hurt the boy's "little chicken"), and the lower layer is open to both men and women. All costumes and helmets are specially made according to the children's body shape. The roles of Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo and Chou are complete, and the robes, skirts and helmets are all complete. The main stories to be dressed up are: "Empty City Plan", "Kong Ming Borrows the East Wind", "Liu Bei Recruits a Marriage", "Lv Bu Plays Diao Chan", "Mu Guiying Takes Command", "Drunkenness in the White Crane Tower", "The Legend of the White Snake", "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai", "Sanniang Teach Her Son", etc. After dressing up, it starts. In front of each story frame, ten red, yellow and green flags lead the way, and a band of more than ten people follows behind. The accompanying instruments include erhu, flute, moon guitar, sheng, suona, trumpet, gongs and drums and other percussion instruments. The main music played includes "Nan Ci Tou", "Zhuanshan Dragon", "Baban", "Golden Rooster Zen Buddha", "Ma Pozi", "Mi Feng Xiyu", "Spinning Line", "Jie Bao", etc. The children on the story frame dance with their sleeves to the music, which is very interesting. Wherever they go, there are crowds of people watching, and they throw cakes, fruits and red envelopes to the story frame to show their appreciation and blessings. At night, they light lanterns, torches, and "kiln cages" (a kind of iron net-shaped lighting tool for farmers that is lit with pinewood), play music, and go from village to village, or to neighboring villages to play. The long dragon-like procession of lights looks particularly spectacular in the night, and the whole activity ends on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival when the people return home.
