What is the name of the ancestral home? The old stork's nest under the big locust tree". Whenever people hum this folk song, behind it is the famous Ming Dynasty immigration. This great migration of immigrants took place from the Hongwu to Yongle years of the Ming Dynasty. It lasted 50 years and moved people 18 times. It was spread across more than 500 counties in 18 provinces and cities including Beijing, Hebei, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hubei, Qin, and Long. It was the largest, longest, and most extensive official migration in history. For more than 600 years, the Hongtong Big Sophora Tree has been endowed with divinity, and the descendants of the Big Sophora Tree who return to their hometown to worship their ancestors have been endless, forming a rich immigration legend and a long tradition of ancestor worship. Since 1991, Hongdong County has adapted to public sentiment and, based on hundreds of years of folk ancestor worship activities, has absorbed a large number of folk sacrificial rituals. Every year, it holds a large-scale "Root-Seeking and Ancestor Worship Festival" in which officials and civilians jointly worship each other, allowing this "ancestor worship custom" to be inherited and carried forward.
