Xingyiquan is a popular style in Taigu and its surrounding areas. It has both internal and external skills, complete single and sparring, and both practical and theoretical aspects. Long-term practice can strengthen the body. In the 29th year of Daoguang (1849), the master of the boxing, Li Laonong (named Feiyu, with the courtesy name Nengran), first introduced Qixian Dai's Xinyiquan into the area when he was a bodyguard in Taigu. In the following ten years, he and his disciples Che Yizhai, He Yunheng and Li Guangheng, after repeated practice and dedicated research, developed and created it on the basis of Xinyiquan and named it "Xingyiquan". The content of Xingyiquan includes the basic Xingyi three-body stance training; the 12-movement Xingyi spring leg for beginners; the basic boxing five-element boxing (chopping for gold, collapsing for wood, drilling for water, cannon for fire, and horizontal for earth); the 12-form boxing (dragon, tiger, monkey, horse, crocodile, chicken, swallow, kite, bream, snake, eagle, and bear); the single-training Xingyi routines such as Liuhequan, advance and retreat chain, chicken-shaped four-handed, eight-position boxing, miscellaneous-position hammer, and Xingyi chain boxing; the sparring routines such as Wuhuapao, Jiuquan, Wutie Liuchu, Wuxingpao, Aishenpao, chain hand, Jiuhuan, 12-chain hammer, chopping hammer, and 16-handed, as well as the key points of attack and defense, practical techniques, etc. Xingyiquan takes "the form of man as the form of things, and the meaning of things as understood by human intention" as the basis of its legislation, and uses pictograms to express meaning and serve boxing. Xingyiquan's "four images" are the root and "three joints" are the use. The "four images" are "chicken legs, dragon body, bear arms, and Hou Xiang". The "three joints" refer to the body as three joints, namely the trunk as the middle joint, the legs as the root joint, and the arms as the tip joint. After several generations of continuous efforts, Xingyiquan has absorbed the strengths of Shaolin boxing, Taijiquan, Baguazhang and other boxing styles, combined with practice and summarizing experience, and its content, form and techniques have become increasingly mature, and its theory, routines and fighting skills have gradually developed into a complete system.
