The Qingdao International Beer Festival was founded in 1991. It opens every year on the second weekend of August, the golden tourist season in Qingdao, and lasts for 16 days. The festival is jointly hosted by relevant state ministries and the Qingdao Municipal People's Government. It is a large-scale national festival integrating tourism, culture, sports, and economy and trade. The Qingdao International Beer Festival is a large-scale festival that uses beer as a medium and integrates economy and trade, tourism, and culture. It is the largest beer festival in Asia. Since its inception, dozens of countries and regions and domestic beer manufacturers have participated in each session, and more than one million tourists from all over the country have come. In 1994, the Qingdao International Beer City, located in the Shilaoren National Tourist Resort, was built, covering an area of 35 hectares and a total construction area of 470,000 square meters, becoming the permanent venue for the Qingdao International Beer Festival. The annual beer festival opens on the first Saturday in mid-August every year and lasts for 16 days. Since the seventh beer festival in 1997, it has been jointly hosted by six national departments and the Qingdao Municipal Government. Qingdao International Beer Festival will cooperate with foreign exhibitors to hold the International Beer Beverage and Brewing Technology Expo to expand the functions of economic and trade negotiations and exchanges; it will further strengthen cooperation with beer manufacturers and related enterprises in Germany, South Korea and other countries, and introduce authentic German and Korean beer and artistic performances related to wine culture; the festival will focus on the positioning of "citizen festival" and "carnival", and will be the largest beer festival in the East that is actively participated by the people and warmly praised by domestic and foreign tourists.
