Linhuai clay sculptures are mainly spread in the Linhuaigang area of Huoqiu County in the middle reaches of the Huaihe River. They use the yellow (black, red, gray) clay on the south bank of the Huaihe River, which has a strong and soft adhesive force, as raw materials. They are made through more than a dozen processes such as soil selection, kneading, waking up, blank making, rough shaping, carving, drying, fine grinding, repairing, finishing, and coloring. It has been passed down for more than a hundred years. Linhuai clay sculptures are based on rural life. Their characteristics are rich and simple materials, which can reflect the daily life scenes of the masses, highlight the rural atmosphere and pastoral scenery, and use small but profound expression methods. The works have the characteristics of completeness, no patchwork, no weathering, no fission, lifelikeness, and durable collection.
