Northern Paper Cutting
Paper-cutting is one of the most popular folk arts in China. In the north, paper-cutting was called "window flowers" in the early years. It absorbed the nutrients of shadow puppets, embroidery, woodcut paintings, pattern decoration and other art categories, integrated them, and gradually formed a unique artistic style. In Dagang District, folk paper-cutting artists represented by Zhang Junrong and Wang Peihua use "yang cutting" and "yin cutting" techniques to create lush and full compositions, delicate and smooth lines, curved but realistic, exaggerated but not far from the theme; the theme is clear and close to life, reflecting the author's longing for life and passion for aesthetics.
