According to the "Hulan Prefecture Chronicle", as early as more than 300 years ago, people of various ethnic groups such as Manchu, Han, Hui, and Korean lived in Lanxi, producing and gradually enriching, spreading, and accumulating many folk stories, which faithfully reflected the voices and history of people of all ethnic groups. Lanxi folk stories have many genres, including myths, legends, stories, anecdotes, fun facts, jokes, etc.; the themes are wide-ranging, including court, historical, folk and other stories. The content is rich, including stories about yearning for life, pursuit of good wishes, struggle between justice and corruption, praising honesty and uprightness, lashing out at corrupt officials, satirizing hypocrisy and jealousy, and the struggle between working people and rich and unkind rich people. The works have profound meanings, a wide range of content, praise and criticism, and different tastes.
