Yangxian folk songs
The lyrics of folk songs are mostly seven words and four sentences, but there are also two, six, and eight sentences. They are divided into solo, duet, and mountain songs. There are four singing methods: 1. Fixed tune. Most of them are sung in high pitch, with the tune unchanged and the lyrics can be changed. For example, "This mountain looks high over that mountain", "Water-carrying song", "Wheat in March and yellow in April", etc. 2. The tune changes with the lyrics. When the singer is excited, he changes the tune at any time. For example, "The sun comes out ten thousand feet high", "The orchid flowers will not bloom", "The thatched house is three rooms long", "Fisherman", etc. The lyrics of this kind of folk songs are lively and vivid, reflecting a wide range of life. 3. Fixed lyrics and music. The phrases are regular and the theme is clear. For example, "The sun sets and falls off the cliff" and "The sun sets and shines on the mountain shade" not only have a fixed tune, but also have fixed lyrics of seven words and four sentences. 4. Short folk songs. There are only two sentences of lyrics, with a song in the middle, or at the beginning and end of two sentences, forming a complete short song. Such as "The Moon Comes Out to Shine on the Gauze Tower" and "Horse Racing in the Mountains". Mountain songs have distinct regions, popular language, vivid images, and beautiful sounds. Their tunes are high-pitched and passionate, majestic and bold, and the lyrics are emotional and expressive. Folk songs are rich in content. The northern mountainous areas are mostly Qin style, the eastern marginal mountainous areas are close to Chu style, and the southern hilly areas are obviously Sichuan style. The main forms include mountain songs, folk songs, minor tunes, filial songs, etc., with four, six, and eight sentences in most cases, and five or seven words in each sentence.
