Krakxc3xb3w Old Town is the historic central district of Krakxc3xb3w, Poland.
[1] It is one of the most famous old districts in Poland today and was the center of Poland's political life from 1038 until King Sigismund III Vasa relocated his court to Warsaw in 1596.
[2][3] The old town is also one of Poland's official national Historic Monuments (Pomnik historii) chosen in the first round, as designated September 16, 1994, and tracked by the National Heritage Board of Poland.
The whole district is bisected by the Royal Road, the coronation route traversed by the Kings of Poland.
Bona Sforza, the second wife of Sigismund I of Poland, asked Bartolommeo Berrecci, Francisco the Florentian, Giovanni Maria Padovano, Santi Gucci and others to do this task.
With the passing of the last Jagiellon king, the political life of Poland began to move to Warsaw.

It was cast in bronze in 1900 and erected around 1920 by the newly established Tadeusz Koxc5x9bciuszko Society to celebrate the return of Poland's independence.

The Historic Centre of Krakxc3xb3w, located on the River Vistula in southern Poland, is formed by three urban ensembles: the medieval chartered City of Krakxc3xb3w, the Wawel Hill complex, and the town of Kazimierz (including the suburb of Stradom).
The importance of the city, which was chartered in 1257 and was once the capital of Poland, is evidenced by its urban layout, its numerous churches and monasteries, its imposing public buildings, the remains of its medieval city walls, and its palaces and townhouses, many designed and built by prominent architects and craftspersons.
