The Wudang Mountains (simplified Chinese: xe6xadxa6xe5xbdx93xe5xb1xb1; traditional Chinese: xe6xadxa6xe7x95xb6xe5xb1xb1; pinyin: Wxc7x94dxc4x81ng Shxc4x81n) consist of a small mountain range in the northwestern part of Hubei, China, just south of Shiyan.
The Wudang Mountains are one of the "Four Sacred Mountains of Taoism" in China, an important destination for Taoist pilgrimages.
However the surviving buildings exemplify the architectural and artistic achievements of Chinaxe2x80x99s secular and religious buildings of the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
They are examples of religious and secular buildings closely associated with the growth of Taoism in China and lavishly endowed by successive Emperors.
Criterion (ii): The Wudang buildings exercised an enormous influence on the development of religious and public art and architecture in China.
